Daniel Blaufuks – Éden

The exhibition presents a set of prints, entitled cinema paraíso. Memória descritiva., from 1991, which is part of the collection of the Photographic Municipal Archive of Lisbon and proposes the (re) encounter with one of the most emblematic projects by architect Cassiano Branco, in the year of the 50th anniversary of his death.

In this series, Daniel Blaufuks captured aspects and details of Cinema Éden’s architecture, images that are now precious objects and a pretext for reflecting on the value of memory and the importance of photographic archives.

BIO

Daniel Blaufuks has been working on the relationship between public memory and private memory, a theme that is one of the constant questions in his work as a visual artist. He has exhibited widely in museums, contemporary art galleries and festivals, working mainly with photography and video, presenting the result through books, installations and films. He holds a PhD from the University of Wales, for which he wrote about Photography and Cinema in its relationship with the texts of W. G. Sebald and Georges Perec, as well as their relationship with memory and the Holocaust. In 2016 he received the AICA award for the exhibitions “Tentativa de Esgotamento” and “Léxico”.

Graça Sarsfield – A Árvore que eu sou

Following an invitation to photographer Graça Sarsfield to produce a photography book and hold an exhibition / installation, focusing on her personal and authorial archives, it was a premise that the themes that she has been capturing throughout her long path would be presented through the complicity between curator and author. Integrated in the Lisbon European Green Capital program, this project develops the photographer's particular relationship with the plant world, comprising records ranging from portrait to landscape.
